Motorola has been pushing some boundaries with both their Moto X and Moto G smartphones when it comes to value for price. The Moto X has had a few price cuts since its release, and the Moto G has been cheap from the beginning. And according to Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside, a lot more can be done to make phones that are truly cheap. Way cheaper than the Moto G.
We all love cheap, just as long as it the price is what is cheap. Not the quality. Even a phone as cheap as $180 can still be a lot of money for some people, and Woodside thinks that Motorola can do better, asking “why can’t these devices be $50? There’s no reason that can’t happen so we’re going to push that.”
Motorola is also going to be pushing the boundaries on customizability, giving you more options than just colors and body materials. In fact, sometime “in the next year or so” Motorola wants to release a phone that offers customization for varying levels of functionality and even different screen sizes. Do you think we will see such a cheap phone this year? Next year? I guess we will have to watch and see.
