A few days ago Motorola teased a new leather option for its Moto Maker feature. We didn’t know which device the new leather would be for, but I guess we should have known that it will be for the Moto X handset. It makes sense. If you’re planning on getting a new Moto X anytime soon, then you will be happy to know that you will be able to choose the new red leather backplate option.
Like the rest of the Moto X’s leather options, this red leather is provided by Horween and will cost you $25 extra on top of the handset you are buying. Hey, why not? I think it looks pretty good.
Just so you know, this red leather will not be a carrier exclusive. If you thought Motorola was done expanding its Moto Maker selections, this should prove otherwise. What many called a simple novelty feature has stuck around and people are into it. Motorola clearly knew what it was doing by offering up customizable features. In fact it looks like HTC could be following in Motorola’s footsteps with the launch of a themer website where users can download or share themes with other users. I’m sure others will also follow the trend.
