Nintendo’s upcoming Wii U console will launch some time later this year. We don’t have an official date, but now we have more details about Nintendo’s latest console thanks to a document from the folks over at N-Europe. The details center around the Project Cars game by Slightly Mad Studios and how the developer will be taking advantage of some of the console’s features. It sounds like it will be a good console, with very versatile gameplay options.
You can transfer play of the game between the TV and on-the-go around the house. You can also switch between rear-view mirror, overhead map, telemetry. Primary input method will let you drive by tilting the controller, while on-screen buttons replicate the buttons and switches on a real wheel. The Secondary input method lets you manage decisions in the pits (swiping through tire choices, setting fuel amount and more). The camera allows you to personalise your profile, and even pose for the podium. Lastly, the Menu navigation method let’s you flick photos from your gallery to the TV and private chat with team-mates.
Different games will use the system in various ways, but this gives you a good idea of what we can expect from Wii U games in the future.
