Minecraft has been around for a few years now and it has been insanely popular. The game is available on several platforms and devices, it is loved by millions of people across the globe.
Mojang, the company behind the game, has come up with a precise figure today that really drives home just how big Minecraft is. Here it is: Over 100 million copies of Minecraft have been sold in almost five years since it was first released.
Minecraft is now the second game in history to have surpassed the 100 million copies sold milestone. Mojang has sold more than 106,000,000 copies of Minecraft. That figure includes sales on all platforms, including PC, Java, mobile, and consoles. It is a staggering figure when you think about it. An average of 53,000 copies are being sold every day across all platforms.
Mojang continues to make more improvements to Minecraft to keep things fresh and that is likely why it continues to do well. Mojang started out independently but was eventually acquired by Microsoft, so I am sure that the big M is very happy about this news. The game seems to be unstoppable. I wonder how long it will last. Only time will tell us.
