Technology will do more things for us as we move forward. Soon, we won’t even drive our own cars. But what about when we get to our destination? Well, that is where a valet to automatically park our cars comes in handy.
Mercedes-Benz is working on this as I type. It has teamed up with Bosch to launch an Automated Valet Parking service.
The Automated Valet Parking service will be available at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, Germany first. It is scheduled to arrive by next year. Anyone, even if you are not a guest at the museum, will be able to rent cars that they can not only drive themselves but also park themselves automatically. What will you do with your idle time?
The human’s participation is limited to using a smartphone app to make a reservation and perform the virtual handover once they’re done with the experience. The Automated Valet Parking service is a combination of Mercedes’ self-driving technology and Bosch’s smart car park grid. The multi-story facility has sensors that monitor the surroundings and tell the car where it should go. A spokesperson for Bosch says that it will work with any car that has a parking control unit, an automatic transmission, keyless entry, and an electronic stability program. The future is here.
