McDonald’s has been giving toys out to kids for many years now, whenever they purchase a Happy Meal. The toys may be of questionable quality, but kids love getting a toy surprise with their meal. Well, now McDonald’s in the UK is hoping to do something different, so they have teamed up with Kobo to offer children an e-book with every Happy Meal purchase.
Do kids really want an E-book over a toy though? Kids want shiny new toys, not words. Still, many parents are going to love this news. The book that will be given away will be Enid Blyton’s Secret Seven children’s mystery book which comes as a code that parents can redeem for their children in order to download it. I can practically hear the collective sigh of a million rugrats.
Actually, this is an initiative that McDonald’s has been participating in for the past couple of years on an annual basis, although this is the first time that Kobo is one of their partners. If you don’t have e-book readers, parents can also get a £1 coupon with the meal that can be used to redeem a physical copy of the book. That is pretty nice. But I would want a toy.
