For years we have heard that a new Matrix movie could be in the works. The latest rumor came in June suggesting that the fourth Matrix movie could be a reboot where Michael B. Jordan would be cast as Neo. It turns out that part of the rumor was true because Warner Bros. Pictures has confirmed that there will be a fourth Matrix movie.
Jordan won’t be taking up the role of Neo, but it looks like actors Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will be returning to reprise their roles as Neo and Trinity. The movie is also expected to be written and directed by Lana Wachowski, one half of the Wachowski brothers/sisters who were the original directors of the original Matrix trilogy.
Warner Bros. Picture Group chairman Toby Emmerich says, “We could not be more excited to be re-entering ‘The Matrix’ with Lana. Lana is a true visionary — a singular and original creative filmmaker — and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in ‘The Matrix’ universe.”
We don’t have any plot details just yet, and we don’t know if Laurence Fishburne will be coming back as Morpheus. More details will surely come soon.
