Earlier this month we learned that the free-to-play title “Marvel Heroes” would be shutting down at the end of the year. Tomake news worse for fans, according to a tweet by the official account, it looks like Marvel Heroes has officially shut down already, a little over a month before what was announced.
We don’t know why the game was shut down earlier than stated, but with the developers behind the game closing their doors, maybe they no longer had the resources to maintain the game until the end of the year. That is likely what happened. Bad news for fans.
It seems like many fans are pretty mad about the early closure, with some feeling that they did not get their money’s worth. The game was originally released on the PC in 2013, and it was only earlier this year that it was ported onto the PS4 and Xbox One. So gamers who made in-game purchases on the console had less than a year to enjoy their purchases, so naturally people want refunds.
Nothing official has been announced yet, but we wouldn’t be surprised if frustrated gamers started looking at legal action. It’s a shame the game could not last a little while longer for fans.
