We’ve all been expecting that by 2014, Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. will be released for the Wii U, although we haven’t received a specific release date. Previous rumors hinted that the game could see a release in April 2014. Well according to Nintendo Germany general manager, Bernd Fakesch, both games could see a release in the spring of 2014.
The news comes from German source, Neckar Chronik, who reportedly quoted Fakesch on the spring 2014 launch date. Sure, we expected that Mario Kart 8 would see a spring 2014 release, but Super Smash Bros. was a mystery. Nothing is set in stone of course, but those looking forward to the games have something to look forward to now.
These titles are highly anticipated for Wii U gamers, and they might even help the console get some sales numbers up. The Wii U has been struggling since its launch and part of the problem has been a lack of big name titles available for the console. Developers have even chosen not to release games for the platform, or to take away some features from Wii U games. This will be a good thing for the console, but it may be too little, too late.
