Older Nintendo games are great because you can always come back to them and relive their glory. Those games are very replayable. Like Mario Kart. Would you like to play Mario Kart 64 again? You can. Nintendo has released Mario Kart 64 on the North American Wii U eShop through the Nintendo 64 Virtual Console.

The game is now available for download from the Wii U eShop. Mario Kart 64 has already been released in Europe. It was rolled out in that part of the world earlier this year in January. Now it is our turn to get nostalgic.

Nintendo’s Virtual Console allows Wii U owners to play classic games that were originally released for the NES, Super NES, and Game Boy Advance etc. These re-releases often come with several new features like off-TV play and more. While Nintendo has taken its time to bring Mario Kart 64 to the North American Wii U eShop, it is here now. Better late than never.

The re-release of Mario Kart 64 first took place in Japan about a year ago, then it hit Europe in January. There is no support for Ghost data though and the N64 Controller Paks don’t work either. All of the other features are available to players. The game costs $9.99 to download. Take a trip down memory lane.
