It’s never a good idea to threaten someone online. Threatening to kill or rape someone should never be taken lightly as a 21-year old man from Manchester has recently found out. He was arrested after posting rapes threats on Twitter.
The threats were directed at Caroline Criado-Perez who has been working on getting more female faces on England’s bank notes, and recently was successful in getting Pride and Prejudice author, Jane Austen, on a new £10 note. Why that should lead to tweeting death and rape threats on her Twitter account, I have no idea. Some people are just idiots.
At one point, Criado-Perez received about 50 rape threats in an hour. Crazy. Scotland Yard said, “A 21-year-old man has today been arrested in the Manchester area on suspicion of harassment offences. […] The arrest is in connection with an allegation of malicious communications received by officers in Camden on Thursday, July 25.”
