People at the 5th Avenue Apple Store in New York were understandably scared as a man descended the staircase carrying a samurai sword. The 30-year-old man entered the Apple Store around 4pm on Friday swinging the sword and screaming as employees and visitors stared at him scared and in disbelief. It’s not something you see everyday.
Luckily, two NYPD officers were in the building at the time and were able to escort him out of the building. Supposedly Apple Store employees built a wall between the swordsman and the customers to protect them. When they escorted the man outside, he went back to screaming and waving the sword around like a crazy person, which is what he was. Obviously this guy was not in his right mind.
Some eyewitnesses said that just before being taken into custody, the man was preparing to harm himself using the sword. He was escorted to Bellevue Hospital, and charged with criminal possession of a weapon and menacing. You know what they say: Only in New York.Maybe he just wanted to play Fruit Ninja in real life? Seriously though, we are just glad that no one was hurt. Things could ended up a lot worse than they did.
