It is a very competitive world in the business sector is concerned. The US apparel market is fierce. Online giant Amazon.com has already made some moves into that area, and now Macy’s Inc. hopes to ward off Amazon’s threat by upgrading their dressing rooms of all things.
So what do dressing rooms have to do with it? Well, they will be upgrading their dressing rooms with tablets. Why not? Bridget Weishaar, an analyst at Morningstar Investment Services, says, “That is the one weapon they have against Amazon. When you’re shopping for certain things, you’re going to want to try it on and see it on you.”
True enough. The revamping of Macy’s dressing rooms with smartphones and tablets should make life easier for customers who are trying on items. They won’t have to leave the dressing room in order to get the assistance of a sales clerk for one thing.
We don’t yet know if this trial will be expanded to other locations. If successful, it likely will be seen at many of the company’s stores. They need every edge they can get in that highly competitive business field. This should help them compete and stay ahead of others.
