LinkedIn has announced that it is going to offer an optional additional layer of account security to its users in the form of two step verification. Even the strongest passwords are susceptible to brute force attacks, so two step verification at least adds some additional security.
Two step verification reduces the risk of an account being compromised through an unknown computer. Users will have to enter a numeric code that will only be sent to their phone via SMS when logging in from an unrecognized device.
When you enter that code you will be given access. This makes things tougher for hackers. Two step verification is optional, but it’s a good idea to use it.
