External hard drive designs are all pretty similar, you get a square box to sit on your desk, LaCie has launched the LaCie Sphere, which is designed to be a little more pleasing to the eye whilst sat on your desk.
The LaCie Sphere, as the name suggests is designed to look like a sphere, and it was designed by Christofle and is hand crafted with silver plated steel.
“The shape of the globe inspired the design concept for the LaCie Sphère. The sensual and strong silhouette naturally led us to the product name,” said Thierry Oriez, president and CEO, Christofle. “We combined our obsession with the reflection of silver with LaCie’s technical expertise to create a hard drive that exudes elegance and sophistication like no other.”
“With the Sphère, LaCie and Christofle have once again thought outside the box. In an industry where square thinking is the rule, this product reflects LaCie’s innovative edge,” Philippe Spruch, executive vice president, Seagate branded, CEO and chairman of the board, LaCie.
The LaCie Sphere will come with 1TB of built in storage, and it will be sold through LaCie an Christofle, it comes with a USB 3.0 connection and will retail for $490, you can find out more details at the link below.
