You might remember back in September, when Keurig announced a new pod machine called the Kold. This machine basically lets you make your own sodas using pods similar to pods used in Keurig coffee machines.
Keurig had partnered with companies like Coca-Cola, so it is real name brand sodas you were getting. The Kold was priced at $370 and that doesn’t include the price of pods. Naturally you can buy a ton of soda for that price, which is probably why it is discontinued now.
Keurig has decided to pull the plug on it. The company has officially announced that they will be discontinuing the Kold machine. Customers who bought the machine are eligible for a full refund, since the pods are no longer being produced. Keurig is selling the Kold pods at a discount, so maybe you’ll want to stock up if you have a machine.
Keurig also announced that layoffs are expected as well. About 130 employees will be affected by this. Last year the company also announced pods that would make soup, which is fine since this uses the same machine as Keurig’s coffee maker. The soda machine however, was a bad idea as they know very well now.
