KakaoTalk is a cross-platform messaging app that lets you chat with your friends over the internet instead of using SMS. It has been around for about 3 years, and now the platform has amassed a user database exceeding the 100 million mark.
That’s a pretty big milestone, though KakaoTalk is still way behind WhatsApp, who recently announced that it has 250 million people using it, processing up to 27 billion messages on a daily basis. Kakao might catch up before too long.
KakaoTalk is available on iOS, Android, BlackBerry OS, and Windows Phone. It allows free phone calls and group chats to be made over the internet, and even supports themes.
