So what is the new Sony Xperia Play phone going to look like? We may have an idea now if these renders are to be believed. This image comes from Concept-phones.com and is purported to be a render of the Sony Xperia 2. The phone is rumored to feature a 4.3″ (720 x 1280) display, a 1.5GHz dual-core S4 Snapdragon processor, and an 8.1-megapixel rear camera with LED flash.
Since there is no official word, we have no idea if this is accurate or not, but we are not convinced just yet. For instance, that transparent strip would be covered by the display when the device is closed and that doesn’t make sense since it is part of the Iconic Identity of the new Xperia handsets. Why hide it?
Then there’s the capacitive buttons. Ice Cream Sandwich doesn’t need them anymore, so what gives? Then again, some manufacturers are including them in newer devices and the phone might launch with Gingerbread first. So, we have our doubts, but all in all this phone looks sweet. When we learn more, we will let you know.
