Our gadgets often aren’t much to look at. For the most part they are functional, but they are not always beautiful. Our modern gadgets have looked better than the ones that came before, but really most are still bland. For the most part, smartphone design has been more or less the same throughout the years.
Designers Philippe Starck and Jerome Olivet have decided to work together to create a unique smartphone concept that they are calling the Alo smartphone. It looks like something that Superman;s parents would use on the planet Krypton.
Olivet says, “Alo provides a fully vocalized interface in all phone functions, reads SMS and emails, and even allows them to dictate their messages rather than typing them. The phone’s camera acts as an ‘eye.’ Among other things, it allows the reader to read the texts he detects or to identify the faces. It also allows you to project a 3D hologram to view a movie or message.”
Well, it certainly looks out there and is one of a kind. Obviously we won’t be seeing this concept become a reality anytime soon, but it would be very cool if it did. This very well may be what the future of phones looks like. Who knows?
