Some recent figures from NetApplications show that Android has overtaken iOS as far as mobile usage goes, but that’s looking at iOS and Android overall which includes tablets. How about we break it down further, by device and separate it by region? It may tell a different story.
Chitika did just that, with their latest report. The data is based on the ad impressions that they’ve recorded for the month of July alone, and the results may or may not surprise you. It shows that Apple is dominating with the iPhone where web traffic in North America is concerned.
You might notice that the iPhone accounts for over half of web traffic in North America at 52.3%, although that is down by 0.2% from February. Second place belongs to Samsung with 26.4%, which is an increase of 1.2% from February. LG is in third place. Then it is Motorola, HTC, and Nokia. You might also notice another odd thing in this chart. It looks like ZTE and Alcatel have managed to beat BlackBerry. That has to hurt. Poor BlackBerry.
Samsung appears to be catching up, but Apple’s iPhone 6 handsets should help Apple to easily keep the lead. Numbers like this are always interesting and add a fresh perspective.
