It is the end of 2013, and now it is time to look at how well products like Apple and the rest have done throughout the year. And we now have that info, according to the folks at NPD, who have released the latest figures. Let’s take a look.
It looks like Apple’s iPads are still dominating the tablet market, although compared to last year it seems to have dropped a bit. Android and Windows tablets are still trailing behind the iPad, but it looks like they are starting to catch up. Maybe 2014 will be the year they overtake Apple.
Apple’s MacBook computers have actually fallen, allowing Google’s Chromebooks to overtake them by a significantly huge margin. That’s probably due to people trading in their MacBooks for tablets. Too bad for Apple here since the MacBook refreshes this year introduced Intel’s latest chipset for better battery life and a sweet integrated GPU. And as you might expect, the numbers show that sales of desktop computers are starting to wane. Windows-based laptops have started to drop in sales too. It will be interesting to see 2014s numbers. They may tell a completely different story as far as who is on top.
