Instagram is on its way to becoming a service that has one billion users. The Facebook-owned service has announced that it now has 800 million users around the world.
The service has added another 100 million monthly users just since April 2017. These figures were announced at an Advertising Week event in New York City. The company continues to grow at a great pace.
Instagram has revealed that it has 500 million daily active users. Rival Snapchat isn’t even close as far as daily active users are concerned. Snap said last month that Snapchat has 173 million daily active users. They have a lot of catching up to do. It looks like growth is not stagnating at all. It seems to be accelerating, and it won’t be long before Instagram reaches Facebook’s billion-plus numbers.
The company also confirmed that the time spent watching video on Instagram is up more than 80 percent year-over-year, which shows that the features and improvements that it has made to its video offerings are paying off. In fact, four times as many videos are being produced every day on Instagram compared to the same period a year ago. This means that advertisers are now willing to spend their dollars on Instagram. Great job Instagram.
