Instagram’s growth isn’t slowing down, it’s gathering steam. The image-driven social network reports that it now has over 600 million users and the last 100 million joined in the past 6 months.
So basically, Instagram’s growth is accelerating. Back when it reported the 500 million figure, it had took 9 months to get the last 100 million. How far will it grow? We don’t know yet.
It should be noted that we don’t know how many of those people are active. Instagram recently noted that 300 million used its apps daily. Most of the 600 million total are likely pretty active, but it could be that some of its new users only check things out sporadically.
Instagram’s obsession with beating Snapchat seems to be paying off. Twitter’s decision to basically kill Vine may have helped, too, because it drew in people who needed a new home for their videos. There is the always-improving phone camera quality too, which likely helped things. So you can see why Instagram would show some growth. The real question is whether or not they can keep growing and if so, how much? Where do they peak? Only time will tell, but for now the company is enjoying the boost in users. We will see where it goes.
