Selfies are a thing in prison? I guess so. Cellphones are highly prized contraband in prison for sure. Everyone wants a cellphone so they can contact the outside world and do stuff like take selfies.
At Western Regional Jail in West Virginia, an inmate named Shane Holbrook is being held on charges of robbery and malicious wounding. He also now faces penalties for smuggling in contraband after he snapped selfies while inside a prison van, and posted them on Facebook like a real genius.
The selfies were taken as Hollbrook and other inmates were being transported back to jail following a trip to the courthouse. During that court appearance, Hollbrook requested that his case be dismissed. The judge rejected that idea. Well, Holbrook told a television reporter that after having his dismissal plea rejected, he really didn’t care that what he was doing violated several rules.
The inmate also added that he posted the pictures on Facebook to calm the fears of some of his relatives who were concerned about him. When asked what kind of device he used, he admitted that “there might have been a cell phone involved.” All Hollbrook would say about the phone was that he had found it. It didn’t set off any alarms anywhere.
