The artworld is abuzz today since art historians have discovered something new. Behind the artwork of Picasso’s Woman Ironing, there is another painting.
Normally attempting to figure out what exactly is behind a painting could mean destroying the original, but thanks to infrared technology, the hidden painting has finally been revealed. This is thanks to John K. Delaney, the senior imaging scientist at the National Gallery of Art in Washington.
John used two infrared cameras: one hyper-spectral and one multi-spectral. which helped to show a detailed image of the hidden painting. So now we have a new work of art we didn’t have before.
