Many users pay for an Imgur Pro subscription because it removes all ads from the website, but that’s not the only reason. The Pro features also allow unlimited uploads and access to community features like commenting, voting, sharing, and analytics tools. The subscription was priced at $3 a month or $24 a year, but that is all changing, because now it looks like Imgur has decided to make these features free for everyone.
So if you were still on the fence about whether or not you should pay for these extra features, don’t worry about it any longer. Users who have free accounts will now be upgraded and given access to all the features that used to be exclusive to Pro accounts. There is a downside however. The website will now be 100% ad supported, so if you don’t like to look at ads, there’s not much you can do.
Former Pro users have some downgrades. It used to be that you were able to upload photos capped at 10MB while free users were limited to 5MB. But with the new changes, all users will now be capped at 5MB. Yes, that kind of stinks, but I bet most people are happy about these changes.
