Huawei is becoming a big name in the smartphone industry, and it seems the company may be gearing up to enter the wearable technology market as well.
According to Huawei’s CEO Richard Yu, the company is working on an Android Wear smartwatch which will go on sale next year.
The information was revealed by Yu during an interview with the folks at Engadget. He didn’t reveal any exciting news about the smartwatch, such as the design it will come with or the software features, etc. However, he did say that it will be “more beautiful” than the Samsung Gear S.
The wearable market is getting competitive with every passing day with LG, Samsung and Motorola, all launching their own Android Wear smartwatches. HTC also rumored to be working on a wearable device, but it’s apparently abandoned for now. Apple is also rumored to launch its own smartwatch dubbed as the iWatch on September 9th alongside the new iPhone 6. So yes, if Huawei wants to make an impact on the market, they have to make sure that it’s different than the competition.
We’ll update you as soon as we get any other information about the Huawei smartwatch.
