HTC has announced the launch of Vive tracker bundles. The device enables users to attach it to an object and take it with them into the virtual world. It’s a motion tracking accessory that can be attached to any real life object. Pretty cool right?
You have to have the HTC Vive virtual reality headset to use this tracker. The motion tracking accessory creates a wireless connection between the headset and the object so that you can use the real object in the virtual world.
It can even be attached to a DSLR camera to create mixed reality videos if that is your wish. It’s all about deeper immersion and more peripherals here.
“The Vive Tracker opens up a whole new set of experiences that can take advantage of full body tracking and a number of peripherals that set VR experiences on Vive apart,” said HTC’s Daniel O’Brien.
These first Vive Tracker bundles are available for pre-order right now. They should ship around mid-December. Each Tracker costs $99 and can be used with dozens of VR games and multiple new accessories like the Hyper Blaster from Hyperkin, the Racket Sports Set, and Rebuff Reality’s TrackStrap. I know, it reminds me of those Wii days as well.
The bundle with a Hyper Blaster gun and tracker with Duck Season will cost $149.99 while the Racket Sports Set bundle with rackets and a tracker will cost the same with a copy of Virtual Sports. Try not to break things in your home.
