You may remember that HTC unveiled its new smartphones at its event earlier this month. It’s counting on these new devices to regain relevance in the global smartphone market.
The company has been putting out good devices every year. That’s not the problem. They have simply failed to make a large impact on customers who are choosing iPhones and Samsung devices. The HTC U Ultra is the company’s new flagship device and a “special edition” of this handset will arrive soon. Maybe this one will attract customers.
The HTC U Ultra special edition will arrive next month with a price tag of almost $1,000. It will have the same Snapdragon 821 processor as the normal U Ultra but with 128GB of storage and sapphire glass instead of Gorilla Glass 5. HTC confirmed the details of the special edition U Ultra on its online store in Taiwan. The standard version is priced at $23,900 TWD with 64GB of storage, that’s about $760, while the company is asking for $28,900 TWD for the 128GB special edition with the sapphire glass. To import one, it would cost you around $920.
HTC will release the U Ultra special edition in Taiwan next month. We don’t know when it will be released in other markets. It might be released in the United States at some point in the future if we are lucky.
