The other day we saw our 2nd leaked press shot of the new HTC Runnymede Android smartphone, and now it would appear that the device will have a different name at launch and could possibly be called the HTC Bass.
One UK retailer has now listed the HTC Runnymede on its website, although it is calling the device the HTC Bass, and the photo included with the listing calls the device the HTC Runnymede.
Specifications and Features
We are expecting HTC to officially announce the HTC Bass / HTC Runnymede next week, and it is rumored to come with a 4.7 inch multi-touch touchscreen display, and a 1.5GHz processor. This large display size is quite significant as it positions the device in the phablet category, making it ideal for users who prefer larger screens for media consumption, gaming, and productivity tasks.
In addition to the impressive screen size and processor, the HTC Bass is expected to feature an 8-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash, which would be a boon for photography enthusiasts. The front-facing camera is rumored to be 1.3 megapixels, making it suitable for video calls and selfies. The device is also expected to come with Beats Audio technology, which would enhance the audio experience, making it a great choice for music lovers.
Market Position and Competition
The HTC Bass / HTC Runnymede is anticipated to compete with other high-end smartphones in the market, such as the Samsung Galaxy S II and the iPhone 4S. With its large display and powerful processor, it aims to attract users who are looking for a premium device with robust multimedia capabilities. The inclusion of Beats Audio technology could give it an edge over competitors by appealing to audiophiles who prioritize sound quality.
Moreover, the device is expected to run on Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread, which, while not the latest version of Android, is still a very capable operating system with a wide range of features and app compatibility. HTC’s Sense UI is also likely to be included, offering a user-friendly interface and additional customization options.
The HTC Bass is also rumored to come with 768MB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which should be sufficient for most users’ needs. However, the lack of expandable storage via a microSD card slot could be a drawback for those who require more space for their apps, photos, and media files.
