A few months ago, HTC announced the HTC Desire 516. The HTC Desire lineup comprises phones that are a low-mid range, which is good news for those on a budget. The Desire 516 was thought to be limited to the Chinese market at first, but that is not going to be the case. It now looks like it will soon arrive in Europe as well.
HTC Germany says that the HTC Desire 516 will soon arrive in Europe. This August, in fact. It will hit Austria and Switzerland first. The handset is priced at €199 unlocked, which is about $270, so it is a good value for your money.
We also already had word that the phone could be headed to India at some point as well. Sadly we don’t know if the HTC Desire 516 will be arriving in other markets. We will just have to wait and see to find out. The HTC Desire 610 could be headed onto AT&T, so that might be an alternative for those of us in the US. It is an option anyway.
The HTC Desire 516 will have a 5-inch qHD display, is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, and has 1GB of RAM and 4GB of onboard storage. Other features include a 5MP rear-facing camera, a 2MP front-facing camera, and it will run Android Jelly Bean.
