As you know by now, HBO wasn’t able to keep all of season 7 a secret thanks to cyberattacks that led to some leaks. The cable giant now has a new plan.
Now they have measures in place to prevent Game of Thrones season 8 leaks. This is the show’s final season and one that fans are anxiously waiting for. Tens of millions of fans across the globe are ready. Now a new report details the measures that HBO has taken to ensure there are no leaks.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, the actor who plays Jamie Lannister on the show, recently revealed that HBO is going to extreme lengths to prevent Game of Thrones season 8 leaks. They have their work cut out for them. Pirates have been all over this show. He mentioned that during the first few seasons, actors were sent hard copies of the script in advance. HBO later only distributed the scripts on digital files, it eventually came to the point where actors would only get their parts through verified email.
Coster-Waldau says that the security for the final season is greater than ever before. HBO isn’t even giving scripts to the actors. Actors have earpieces in each scene and they’re given their dialogues line by line. They only find out about their fate in the final season when they show up on set for filming. Will this strategy work for HBO? I guess we will see.
