Last week Google announced Chromecast and we like what we see so far. It just needs more content. Netflix is already onboard and it was recently reported that HBO was interested in bringing HBO GO streaming support to Chromecast as well.
A representative for the network, Laura Young, has confirmed that HBO is “actively exploring” supporting Chromecast, but they can not comment right now on specific plans as far as timing. When Chromecast’s software was looked into, there were mentions of HBO GO, so maybe Google is internally testing an HBO GO app for Chromecast.
Whenever the support does come, you will need a conventional HBO subscription to view regular programming. Right now, Chromecast is able to support video from YouTube, Netflix and purchased content from Google Play store.
