If you have been playing the Borderlands prequel you are probably ready for some new content. The first expansion pack for Gearbox Software’s Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is coming this month and introducing another playable character to the game. The character is Handsome Jack himself, or at least someone who looks and acts a lot like him.
Handsome Jack being a playable character in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel was first mentioned during the Gearbox Software panel at Penny Arcade Expo 2014 in September. Gearbox President Randy Pitchford, Chief Creative Champion Mikey Neumann, and Vice President of Marketing Steve Gibson suggested the idea that Jack could be added as a character, but all is not what it seems. There is an interesting twist.
The Handsome Jack Doppelganger Pack will give you your first chance to play as Jack. Kind of. The character is a bodyguard that was surgically altered with a voice change to match Jack. In the game, there were clues spread around about the body double. Jack will have three trees to choose from for progression and perks. The main special ability is the ability to summon up to two “Digi-Jacks” or digital clones that fight until the effect wears off. “The Hero of the Story” path gives grenade upgrades and makes Jack a little tougher, “Greater Good” gives Jack buffs when he or group members are in “fight for your life” mode, and “Free Enterprise” grants buffs depending on the manufacturer of the weapons you use. This sounds like it is definitely worth playing.
The Handsome Jack Doppelganger Pack is arriving on November 11 for $10 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Linux and OS X, or part of the Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel season pass for $30. The game will have at least one other playable character in the future, a level cap increase, a new campaign, and more.
