Good news for Halo fans. It has been confirmed that the upcoming Halo Wars 2 game is going to get a physical release on Windows 10. Many people still like to own physical copies of games even in this age of digital downloading. Nice move by the company.
THQ Nordic is partnering with Microsoft Studios and 343 Industries to bring Halo Wars 2 for Windows 10 to retail stores around the world. We are talking physical copies. It has also been confirmed that those who purchase the physical disc will also get access to the digital version of Halo Wars 2 on Xbox One since this is an Xbox Play Anywhere title. So you get the best of both worlds.
The Halo Wars 2 physical release will cover both the standard and ultimate edition of the game, and rest assured “high-quality packaging” is promised.
THQ Nordic promises that the physical release is “stunning” and that it will give fans four-day early access to the core game, the season pass, and Halo Wars: Definitive Edition which is an enhanced version of the original Halo Wars game for both Windows 10 and Xbox One also as an Xbox Play Anywhere game.
Just be aware that the physical version of the game for Windows 10 will require a one-time, non-transferrable online activation upon install with digital token. Halo Wars 2 Ultimate Edition includes four-day early access and will be released on February 17th, 2017 while the Standard Edition is hitting on February 21st, 2017.
