Thanks to Google Glass’ capabilities of photo taking and video recording, some situations make people edgy where Glass is involved. Think about casinos and movie theaters where owners worry that patrons who wear Glass might take advantage of the situation.
At an AMC theater in Easton Mall in Columbia, Ohio, a man wearing Glass went in to see a movie, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. An hour into the movie passed and an FBI agent approached him. Without warning, he snatched the Glass off the man’s face and removed him from the theater, after which he was interrogated by a group of agents for over 3 hours. Freedom? What’s that? During the man’s third-world abuse session, all of these knuckle-dragging apes told him that it was illegal for him to record a movie while in the cinema. The thing is, the man did not record any movies since his Glass was turned off. He also had the prescription version of glass, meaning that he had to wear them if he wanted to see anything.
The man was eventually let go and given two free movie tickets in an obvious attempt to lull him back into a passive zombie sleep state and make him forget that his rights were just violated, while these goons presumably went and harassed some old lady at an airport. Yes, I am being a bit biting in my criticism, but only because I have seen way too much of this stupidity. Stupid humans make me want to scream. They really handled this badly as they normally tend to do. Anyway, it will be interesting to see how an already uptight society deals with more Glass issues as they develop. Hopefully in a smarter way than this was handled.
