There were rumors over the past few weeks that Rockstar might be readying a port of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for the PlayStation 3. Well, it looks like those rumors were right on target. Rockstar Games has released GTA: San Andreas for PlayStation 3. The port is now available for download and it replaces the PS2 Classics version of the game which was already available. Fans of the game will be excited about this news.
GTA: San Andreas for PlayStation 3 will take up about 2GB of space, but it should be noted that we don’t know if this port is the same one that Rockstar released for the Xbox 360 with Games on Demand in October last year. That port delivers better draw distance than the PlayStation 2 original and runs in 720p.
If you look at the PlayStation Network trophies list for the title, it’s similar to the achievements on Xbox 360 with one exception: the title’s platinum trophy on PS3 replaces the Trickster achievement on Xbox 360. To win this trophy you have to first complete 10 pimping missions.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was initially released on PlayStation 2 way back in October 2004. The title is available for the PlayStation 3 via digital download from the PlayStation Store for just $14.99.
