Cheaters in video games ruin the game for everyone. Even if you think you have gotten away with a cheat or exploit, chances are that the developers will catch up to you at some point.
This is something that GTA Online cheaters have recently discovered. Cheating gets you nowhere in the game now.
On a support page on Rockstar’s website, the company published a Q&A regarding cheating, where we learn that accounts that are found cheating for in-game cash will have that cash removed. That’s a simple enough solution. Crime doesn’t pay. Rockstar says, “To keep the gameplay environment fair we have removed illegitimately gained in-game money from player accounts. If you received an alert saying that your shared bank balance was adjusted, that is because you had illegitimate funds in your account.”
This only applies to cash that players have obtained illegally, through cheating. So any cash that you have earned legitimately such as through Shark Cards will not be affected, but everything else will. It looks like cheaters will not have their accounts banned, as you can see in the screenshot above. Just don’t cheat and you won’t have to worry about it. There’s no point to cheating now anyway.
