We recently spotted a new flatter version of the Google logo in the Chrome Beta for Android app. It turned out that it was not a new logo that Google plans to use everywhere, but a slightly redesigned logo that would be used in situations where a flatter design is better.
Interestingly Google has also debuted a new logo for its Google Play website. The previous logo said “Google Play”, with the font being a lighter shade of grey, while the “play” logo is positioned on the left. The new logo has the “play” logo on the right, and the “play” text is gone.
I like it. It looks cleaner. It seems to be the month for new logos. I wonder what made them re-evaluate their logos.
