It looks like Google took the Ninja approach to launching its Google Play Gift Cards in the country of Austria. All quiet and stealthy. There is no official announcement from Google that gives us any details. The cards are showing up in various shops and markets, with user instructions in German, in denominations of $20, $34, and $68 (15, 25, and 50 euro).
We don’t have the names of specific cities and shopping venues just yet, but if you were waiting for the gift cards to show up in Austria, keep your eyes open while in the country. Of course you can also use the “Find a Retailer” button on Google Play’s Gift Cards webpage.
Throughout the month of March, Google has been expanding its services across the globe. Just last Tuesday, the company made Google Play Movies available in 37 new countries, while Google Play Music is now available in 4 new European locations as well. We can probably expect some official word on this very soon. If you are in the country, now you can find Google Play cards and give them as gifts to your friends and family.
