Who would have thought? Android’s Google Play store has just officially hit over 1 million apps and has now finally surpassed the Apple App Store and its 900 000 applications. This is a big accomplishment for Android.
The platform initially launched as the underdog, after Apple first started the app craze. But with this news the landscape has changed.
One reason is that Google has made great advances in paying its developers more. They are now receiving 2.5x the money. App downloads have also grown to over 50 billion. This growth is stunning and I see no signs of it slowing down anytime soon.
