Check out Google’s new GBike, created by some engineers from the company from about 35 to 40 submissions in a design competition. It looks pretty neat and very retro. For the competition, Google had just 4 design criteria that had to be met: easy production, affordable, comfortable and secure.
Yes, it looks like a Google bike should look, sporting the necessary colors. Some other submissions that they received were a BMX-style bike and even a 19th century old Penny-farthing high-wheel bike, but this one won out, being a bit more down to earth.
It has a basket and a bell and fenders. The company will order enough bikes for their 10,000 employees on campus so that anyone who wants to ride can ride. If Google was a teenage girl living in your neighborhood and if it were about 40n years ago, this is what she would be riding down the street.
