Google’s Arts & Culture app is an awesome virtual museum that you can “visit” from your smartphone right now, but back in January, it captured the attention of millions not with interesting information about the fine arts, but with a feature that could match your selfie to a famous painting. Of course, it did. This is 2018. Following the success of the feature in the Arts & Culture app, now Art Selfie is now getting broader integration in Google Lens.
Art Selfie is powered by Google’s computer vision technology based on machine learning. So when you snap a photo of yourself, the image gets compared to faces in artworks provided by Google museum partners. You will see your results along with a percentage to estimate the visual similarity of each match and your face. If want to learn more about the piece of art your face was just compared to, you can tap on the picture to get more information about it.
So maybe your face is in a museum somewhere. Find your match and then show your friends and brag about it. Unless you matched up with something like “The Scream” anyway. Art Selfie should be available soon globally. It is live in the Uk right now.
