It will cost you $1,500 for Google Glass Explorer Edition. That makes sense when you realize that US labor will be used to manufacturer it. According to the Financial Times, the first run of production-quality Glass headsets will be built in Santa Clara, California. In the good ole USA.
There are likely many reasons, but perhaps most importantly, the main reason may be that Google just wants to keep a close eye on things at first.
Besides, the initial batch of Glass headsets won’t be high yield, so why should they look overseas? Anyway, it’s good news for the US. Maybe they will end up making more in the US after this initial run.
