You may or may not know that Google launched a service in the US called Google Compare last year. It allowed users to compare credit card rates, mortgages, car insurances, and more. Hence the name.
Well now it looks like Google Compare did not do very well to say the least and so the service will be shutting down on March 23rd. Google will likely begin winding down the service on February 23rd and this will apply to both the US and UK market versions of the service.
An email Google sent to its Compare partners says, “Despite people turning to Google for financial services information, the Google Compare service itself hasn’t driven the success we hoped for. We greatly appreciate your partnership and understand that this decision will be disappointing to some. But after a lot of careful consideration, we’ve decided that focusing more intently on AdWords and future innovations will enable us to provide fresh, comprehensive answers to Google users, and to provide our financial services partners with the best return on investment.”
Those who still use the service have until March 23rd to do so. After that you will have to find another service for all of your comparisons.
