These days you can get your game in either digital form or a physical disc. Which do you prefer? There are benefits for both sides. Digital takes up no physical space after all and you won’t have to worry about losing the disc.
You also don’t have to wait for your order to arrive as you can download it right away.
Given those factors alone, it seems like digital would win out, but a recent survey conducted by MCVUK has revealed that the majority of gamers still prefer their games to come on old fashioned physical formats. The graph above shows that overall, 77.1% of gamers prefer their games physical. It is also interesting that when broken down by gender, the survey found that more men prefer their games digital than women, although overall the majority of men still preferred owning a physical copy of the game. I guess people just like to have something tangible that they can own.
There are many advantages to digital of course. Some computer manufacturers are starting to omit optical drives with their desktops/laptops even. But physical media is not dead just yet. Plus, there’s the cool cover art on the games that we buy.
