Earlier this year Twitch and Blizzard announced a partnership where the Overwatch League will be streamable via Twitch’s platform. This has been a huge success and in its first week, the matches managed to get 10 million viewers. Now it looks like Blizzard and Twitch are trying to encourage more viewers through rewards. Fans are going to like this.
Gamers can now earn Overwatch League Tokens by watching matches. All you have to do is link your Battle.net account on Twitch, MLG, or Overwatchleague.com. “Each time a map concludes during a live broadcast, eligible viewers will earn a League Token. Also, a percentage of lucky fans viewing the live broadcast when a match ends will be awarded 100 League Tokens, enough for a home-team skin of their choice!”
League Tokens are an in-game currency for Overwatch. They can be used to purchase Overwatch League team skins, which is an excellent way for gamers to show support for their favorite teams. Blizzard has also announced that they are partnering with Twitch for Overwatch League Cheering. Gamers can Cheer with Bits which will unlock rewards like Hero emotes, Overwatch League skins that have yet to be released in-game, and more.
Sounds like a winning formula for fans.
