The next major tournament series for Fornite isn’t going to be just for professional players. “Winter Royale” is the next major competition with a prize pool of $1 million. All players can compete for a chance to win cash prizes, not just pros. This is big news for fans of the popular game.
The Winter Royale open tournament for Fortnite will start later this month. Earlier cash tournaments were limited to professional players or popular streamers who were invited to compete, but this tournament will be open to any and all players, so things should get very interesting as they all compete.
The competition will be divided into the qualifiers and finals phases. “The top performers in each region for NA and EU will be verified, and those players found eligible will be invited to participate in the Winter Royale Finals for their region,” according to Epic Games.
This tournament is limited to North America and the EU regions, but the developer says that it plans on holding other region-specific tournaments very soon in the next few months.
Qualifiers will take place on November 24th and 25th. The finals will begin on November 30th in Europe and December 11th in North America.
