Consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One support wireless headsets, but the Nintendo Switch is different. Nintendo has a more controversial method of communication, which is through the Nintendo app on the gamer’s phone. Nintendo justified this by saying that we have our phones with us all the time, making it very convenient. Well, maybe not for everyone.
The good news for Fortnite players who are planning to buy the Switch version of the game is that it looks like it will come with native headset support. This means that gamers will be able to plug a wired headset into the headphone jack on the Switch console and use it right away, without any hassle at all. This is good news indeed.
Just be aware that this is only for wired headsets and if you are planning on using wireless headsets, then you are likely out of luck. This was confirmed last year after some initial confusion about whether or not Bluetooth headsets were supported, it was later revealed that it wouldn’t be.
Anyway, Fortnite for the Switch is already available and playable, so if you haven’t downloaded it already, you should get playing. Everyone else is playing it already.
