As fans know, Fortnite’s tenth season is underway and the World Cup is fading from view, so Epic is ready to outline what comes next in competitive play in the battle royale title. The first Champion Series is going to start on August 17th, with trios trying to conquer their regions over five weeks of competitions.
These competitions have both weekend main events, even Cash Cups. The top teams will face off against each other in regional events on September 20th through September 22nd.
You can keep up with the scoring easily as there will be a leaderboard to show progress. Each event will have its own prizes, and there will be “millions of dollars” up for grabs throughout the Series. There will also be several Fortnite Spotlight tournaments from the game’s creator community.
This is all an attempt to keep an official Fortnite esports program running year-round instead of focusing just on the World Cup alone. This could both boost the legitimacy of the game in the competitive world and also keep it front and center as rivals like Apex Legends develop their own esports scenes. It should be fun for solid fans of the game to watch that’s for sure.
